Questions about 2000 M5

I recently found a used 2000 M5 for sale with 60,000 km on it.
The owner is asking for $80,000 Canadian dollars, or $51,696 US dollars at current exchange rate. Is this a good deal?

Also, were there significant changes in later models of the M5 after 2000?

Thoughts, opinions?

Regards,
chris

Market Price, not really any changes to be concerned with.

Some of the changes

I don't claim this list is comprehensive though ...

2000:
1) older style M-steering wheel
2) smaller NAV screen
3) NO LEDs and Angel eyes in front
4) No M-audio as option
5) PDC option for rear only
6) True extended leather in car on dashboard and door panel
7) subtle design difference in the piston rings requiring a heavier and more expensive oil, 10W60
8) Exterior color Avus, interior oxford green available
9) Some have said the rims are a bit darker than 2001 and 2002

2001:
1) Newer M steering wheel (much thicker)
2) wide 16:9 Nav screen
3) PDC as option in front and rear
4) introduction of Lemans BLue as color
5) engine requires less expensive 5W30 oil
6) M-audio as option
7) Leds in rear and Angel eyes in front

2002:
Everything in 2001 with these additions
1) Automatic running headlights
2) rear air bags no longer activated standard, but a No cost option
3) discontinued silverstone and Royal Red colors, added Blue water and Chiaretto red.

Chris, If you go on bmw canada's web site, use the pre-owned locator to search for 2000 M5's. Currently it lists 2000's as follows;

47,000km for $80,000 CDN
75000km for $78,800 CDN
I do not believe these have full leather. They also list a full leather low km (24K) car for almost $90,0000 CDN

Depending on any options on the car you are looking at it would appear that the owner is in the right ball park price wise.

Good Luck
T.

FYI - I have a 2000 that was manufactured in June of that year and it does not require the 60W oil.

Just a reflection.....

Intersesting to make a price comparsion.

I just bought a 2000 M5 with 38000km four months ago in Sweden. I payed 49000$. So it seems that the used prices are quite equal.

Don´t bother about the 16:9 or thicker steeringwheel.

A beast is a beast. Goes lik h***!!

Good luck with your purchase.

On a MY 2000 built before october, you´ll want the Vanos Oil accumulator drain valve installed. (aka vanos fix) done.
