Obviously, this is a horrible tragedy and we all extend condolences.

I do not mean to sound cold/insensitive, but I can't help but also to wonder how the M5 involved burst into flames. This is something that is concerning to me as well although I think under the right (or actually wrong) set of circumstances, any vehicle could burst into flames following an impact especially if the fuel line ruptures or the gas tank ruptures. I'm sure that it doesn't happen as often as it seems to happen in action films.

Again, heartfelt sympathy extended to the family.

If I might weigh in here.
I deal with tragedy daily - it is my job as a critical care doc. I have seen it all.

I can say that IMHO, Paul S (germansedanfan) is correct. A simple note of condolence is always appropriate and in my experience always appreciated. If it was from "Gustav and friends" it would be specific enough that he would know it is from this group and ambiguous enough that other, less sensative people would not know it is from the "car nuts" out there, should they happen upon it.

My $.02

Sounds like a thoughtful approach, Gustav. Thanks, both Pauls.

That is absolutely heartbreaking news. I think a small gesture of condolence to the driver is the right thing to do.

This is what Greg said:

I don't know where the
conversation stands but if someone closest to that area would b
willing, they could collect PayPal donations and send flowers.

Maybe we should do a little collection for flowers and have some in Austin to handle the delivery?

OK?

Or should we let bay area kid help us with his flowershop?

Let's just do something, but it hasn't to be rushed.
