Angry First Bear, then me...Be careful they come in 3's

I was on my way back from a nice weekend in Atlanta. Wifee decided she wanted something sweet to eat. We stop at an IHOP for 25 mins and a quick snack. As ususal I park Beastie out of harms way as far away as possible.

Sure enough in that short period of time some a-hole, uninsured, redneck hit and runner smashes my right real taillight, bending the trunk lid. My baby is not even 80 days old.....Dad Gum it!!

Geez! Can't believe it. What a bummer. (How's THAT for going back to the 60s...)

I know how angry you must feel. But - in the whole scheme of things - don't worry about it. The car can be fixed, your insurance company will pay for it - and you've gotta belly full of delicious pancakes! It could be worse....

Sorry to hear about that. Almost makes you think it was deliberate...some red neck suffering from Beasty-Envy.

Anyway, don't fret; it'll get fixed just like new. I'm amazed at the how well a good body shop does these days. No one will ever know.

Guys,

Thanks for the thoughts. You are right it can be fixed and it could have been worse.
Funnily enough my wife is more upset then me. She was a real trooper when she spotted the car was hit. Ran in, had them call the police and all. Tried to make me feel better the rest of the trip home. She knows how much the car means to me and how I took care of it.

It made me realize how much she cares about me which was a real positive result of the entire event.

In the end of the day cars are just cars and material things.

Take Care !

Hey Greg...loved the videos !! Can't wait to try that.

paul (aka BlewByU and OoH La La)

ps - I did think about it being done on purpose, the car was parked where you would have had to drive to it to get to it. Also the damage at first looked like it was done with a tire iron, however the office did find specs of light blue paint upon investigation.

Paul,

Another real bummer!!! all within a few days... whatz up here??!

About a year or so ago ( BtB - Before the Beast)... I took a business trip in my 98 M3 to San Antonio and had the car parked on an end spot in the lot of local restaurant.

After dinner and upon return to my vehicle, I was painfully shocked to see someone had deliberately keyed my driver's door.. real deep.. down to the metal!! Man, was I pissed! I suppose some people just can't let us enjoy our cars with Fxxx'ing with them???

Anyway, Italia is right, a good body shop guy will fix this where no one will ever know. My M3 (Cosmos Black) was fixed up real nice and you could not tell anything had ever happened.

Sorry for your mishap!! I feel your pain!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Andy:

I lived in Paris for 9 years and cars there were constantly keyed, so I know that feeling too well.

I'm out getting estimates today for the work. If anyone knows of a good body shop in NA (North Alabama) I would appreciate. I'm going to start with my dealer and work from there.

Anyway thanks for your note. It nice to know you guys are out there.

Paul, don't know of one in NA. However, the best in Atlanta is Sports and Imports Collision, 770-458-0165, they are located in Chamblee. That's the good news. The bad news is they usually take about a month to see you. We've had work done from scratching a mercedes convertible when putting on the hard top to full on heavy duty replacing the front end of my 540i. Good luck with your car.
