Will the e46 Space Saver Spare Tire fit e39 M5?

I was interested in carrying a space saver spare in the truck, in case the M-Mobility system can't fix the damage (e.g. blow-out). Will the space saver spare that comes with the e46 fit the e39 M5 (with front Brembos)? I am assuming the answer will be NO, so ... on to the next part of my question:

Is there a space-saver available from any manufacturer that can fit on the e39 M5 with front Brembos?

Plus, who sells a good bottle-jack in case I need to replace the wheel?

Thanks.

Not sure where we ended up....

...the idea of a space-saver came up a while ago--before the E46 M3; I wasn't aware it had one. Some folks talked about adapting a Corvette space saver, and someone else went to the expense of having Kinesis manufacture a skinny-profile forged three-piece to go over big brakes.

As for the bottle jack, why not get the factory scissors jack that comes with every other E39? As I recall it worked fairly well on my E39 540i/6. There's also a place for it to fit in the side panels of the trunk, if I recall correctly.

Let us know what you find out!

i did a lot of investigation and never pulled the trigger

the largest spacesaver wheel size i'm aware of is 17 inch

i can't seem to find my notes at the moment, but the tire size used on the Corvette or the Mitsu VR4 (next smaller section) had the correct diameter and adequate weight capacity

the Corvette bolt circle should actually fit the M5 but there may be a hub-centric problem and and offset problem

the Brembo brakes will be a big problem, you'll have to lay out actual caliper and wheel dimensions to see if the wheel can be spaced out enough to clear the caliper -- certainly will be a custom wheel

i think i can clear my StopTechs with a custom wheel and will continue to pursue this when i get around to selling my old front wheels and tires

never heard any results on the custom Kinesis wheel, the guy seems to have dropped off the board

Thanks for your responses. I will probably end up just putting a tire on my spare Dinan wheel and throw it in the trunk. It is a rear wheel, but hopefully it will work on the fronts too.

Cheers.

It doesn't.
And the normal E46s have smaller hub center than E39 so they will not fit either.
