Brake Bleeding

Since brake bleeding is such an important issue...what is the best way to do so? There are some brake bleeders such as Griot's Garage (sucks fluid out) and AJ-USA (pushes fluid through http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/invento...gory?cat_id=15)

What is the best bleeder for those with and without an air compressor?

I wrote a post on this topic on the Roadfly message board. The folks at BMWtips.com grabbed it for their archives. You can see it here: http://www.bmwtips.com/tipsntricks/b...ol/bleeder.htm

If you've still got questions after reading it, just let me know and I'll try to help.

Superb

Thanks Dave! That's exactly what I was looking for. Nice job describing the different types of bleeders.

Would you mind posting your exact procedure for bleeding brakes?

One more question-where do you purchase a bleeder like you mentioned in #5?

An inexpensive and very effective way of bleeding your brakes is changing the bleed nipples to Speedbleeder nipples.
I've used this method for about 3 years with no problems-it's quick and easy and you can do it alone. It's great for drivers schools.
Here's a picture:
