        Quick snow tire fitment question

I know the general consensus (including BMW's) is to use 17" rims/tires for snow. For various reasons, I will probably be using 18's. My question is very specific. Has anyone had any trouble fitting 245/40/18s on the stock rear rims or on an aftermarket 18" rim that is 9.5-10.5 inches? Your input would be much appreciated

a good question. When I called tire rack last year to get 18" snow tires put on my OEM wheels, they recommended to put 245/40-18 all around. It sounded fishy to me seeing that our oem setup is 8" in front running 245. and 9.5" in back with 275. So I searched the archives on this board and found out that an optimal setup would be Dunlop Winter Sport M2 with 245 in front and 265 in back.

Since you want to put them on 9.5" and 10.5" wheels, you may want to go ahead and try 265 all around. This is all speculation by the way since I have yet to hear of anyone else wanting to put snows on such wide wheels. For the record, I doubt 245 will fit on a 10.5" wheel.

I really hope I helped out.
