        Car Lovers DVD

Yesterday I celerbrated a birthday. My wife gave me a DVD she got at Borders. It's called Super Speedway, originally created for IMAX, this thing is full of speed, instructive in building IRL cars and very intense.

I was not aware of this DVD but it is now permanently installed in my DVD player in my new Toshiba Satellite. With 48 chapters the selecting of different parts is more than enough entertainment fo me.

She got it in Borders in the automotive section.

MODERATORS, PLEASE DON'T MOVE TO OFF TOPIC SO OUR MEMBERS CAN HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET THIS DVD, THKS.

I have it. This DVD rocks! It gives a better sensation of speed than any other video I've ever seen. Watching it through a progressive scan DVD player, component video and my 42" plasma HDTV display doesn't hurt, either.

The "how they made it" tracks are as good as the movie - and the closing scene with Mario driving that...... (Oh well, I won't give it away)

        But I second the nomination!

Amazon has this DVD but what I'm wondering about is does this video have subtitles or even close captioning? Can either one of you two check for me? If it does then I'd probably get it. Although the temptation to get a taste of "speed" might win out.

yes, this is a great dvd. I have an older version of it. I heard they remastered it for 16x9 (widescreen)- is that true? Also, you should really turn up the volume. On a good system you will feel the woosh as he passes through the overpasses. another good car dvd is Ronin.

ME Yes to Widescreen enhanced for 16:9 TVs, also full frame.

It's worth a trip to Borders.

I was lucky enough to see this at Rallistas's house. What a great DVD, the sound, the speed, the sensation it provides is amazing. Wonderful DVD .

alpindvl was doing that...but he hasn't gotten around to finishing it up.

Can anyone please check to see if this "Speed" DVD has close captioning or subtitles for me?

        Jason,
I just checked my early version of this disc and there are no subtitles, but you should see if the updated version has them. It would be a shame if it didnt. Interesting on Aplinadvl......
