Active Autowerke's CAI & brake duct system
OK...after a long search trying to find someone who has had this installed on an M5, and not having any luck, I called them and spoke to length with Rey. We talked about the fact that they used a Mustang dyno for their tests and this is why the M5 they tested seemed to have tested low to begin with. Everyone that I have talked to says this is a reputable company. Well, I finally said "what the hell" and ordered their system ( www.activeautowerke.com) and will have that installed when I have the Supersprint exhaust and x-pipe and the Rogue short shifter kit installed.
I'll report back on the intake system. Unfortunately, the dock workers strike (or whatever it was) has delayed the arrival of my exhaust system. Seems there was a big run on one of the mufflers by the E36 crowd, so they were all backordered. BMP says they're expected in the end of this month...we'll see.

Steve, question for you and other members.......
If a person had the Dinan Cold Air Intake system installed, would this setup add more air & benefit in the car's performance?
Or are the two systems incompatable????
Thankyou very much.

It all depends on AA's CAI. Dinan CAI has K&N Filters located behind the fog light assembly. I believe Active Autowerke's CAI designed to work with stock intake. if you want to channel more air to Dinan CAI, you may want to just drill a hole on the black plastic fog light covers.

Steve,
When will you have the CAI install completed? Are you installing it yourself? I am really interested in how it feels to you just driving around town. If you go to their website, they claim some really impressive increases as shown with the dyno runs. The price is less than half of Dinan.
Let us know.

Rey from AA called me this morning to say that all the parts were in stock and they just had to do some pre-assembly and he expected to ship it out either tomorrow (11/12) or Wedns.
I'm going to let someone else do the install for me and have them install my Rogue short shifter kit at the same time. I probably could do the install but it's probably better to let a "pro" do it. That way, if they screw it up, I can yell at them and get them to fix it!
I'll let you know how it goes.

I think that the board would be very grateful if you could do some before and after dyno runs...the butt-o-meter can sometimes be a little deciving to actual gains and what not especailly after it has lightened up a little from loss of money, it really feels change in performance....if you know what I mean!

Xray,
I look forward to the feedback. I am more interested in the butt-o-meter than the dyno. One I can feel and the other just looks good on paper. I realize that one should follow the other, but it is not always that way.
Thanks,
Mark

OK. I will have no problem with giving everyone a butt-o-meter report, but the dyno report may be a little tougher. I certainly would like to see it myself, and if the guy doing my install has access to a dyno, I'll try to convince him to do a before and after comparison. I can't promise that I'll be able to get that though. Believe me, if I don't feel and increase in power/torque, I will let you know. I also have a Tazzo competition unit (somewhat similar to a G-tech) that I can do some before and after measurements. Obviously, this isn't as good as dyno results, but if conditions are similar between the before and after, the results may be useful.
Just ordered the Stage II Xenon upgrade, too! I kinda like the way they look and it will set my beast jus a bit apart from the other LeMans blue beast in our town.
