        Individual Non-Individual M5s

So . . . OK, we all think we're special because we own a Beast. Some think they're more special because they have "individual" Beasts not otherwise available to the basic M5 public absent special consideration, Euro ordering etc. (see previous threads on "individual Euro M5s). None of us can match those aawesome individual orders . . . nonetheless, there also exist those of us who are truely warped and order "authorized" versions of M5s that nobody else either seems to want or appreciate, meaning most importantly, (1) paint, (2) interior color(s), and (3) trim (wood vs. alum trim), without having to get special approval from BMW (Bart: love your Bowater; but those Caramel seats required special negotiation, right, disqualifying you?).

So . . . I've looked at The List, and nobody else seems to have mine amongst the Board members. Anyone else have a (1) silverstone (2) red/black imola leather (3) with wood (bruyere wood, not that that necessarily matters, unless someone else's Beast is almost as special as mine)?" op:

So I ask my fellow Board members, Do you think you have a stock special M5 that nobody else in their (w)right mind would have chosen? What is your special non-individual "individual M5" specs (see (1) through (3) above)? Hope you like me are not planning on selling it! W

I know that there are a number of other members on this board who also have the same color combination as me (lemans blue/lemans blue/aluminum trim). But the interesting twist is that I have yet to see another M5 in the local area that has the same color combination as myself. So, I propose that I have an unique M5 in these parts.

I think, and that is my opinion, that every M, if it's a 3 or a 5, is individual. I don't see 'm that many around here, maybe when I go to the west of Holland a couple more. But every M is individual, cause it's yours, and you like it and drive it! I like mine, haven't seen one in this color, only on the internet. Take care and drive safe,

Hi AndyS. Until recently the "Individual" program was not available for US purchasers. If you wanted a certain color M5, that color had to be offered that year, and you could only choose from a number of designated interiors. For example, in Bart's case, he wanted Bowater (available), but his interior choice (Caramel) was not on the approved combination list so he had to do some negotiating to get that done. Nonetheless, there are some approved color/interior combos that you just don't see many of, like mine. [Blue Max (Thx!) tallied up members' e-mails from the Beast Survey (see thread re same near top of site), and scanning it gives you an idea of the more popular combos.] I must have bad taste b/c mine is the only one of same color/interior possessed by Board members . . . So my "approved" car clearly is not an "Individual" car such as can now be ordered in some cases, but nonetheless may be "individual" because nobody else may have ordered one with my approved color/interior/trim combination. Still confused?

PS The only other silverstone M5 with red/blk imola sport interior that I am aware of had alum trim (not wood), and the person that bought it allegedly replaced the seats with black leather! (was that you CP?)

I think I'm the only one on the board with a Anthracite Imola Red/Aluminum trim combo....I'm sure there might be one or two others out there in the population, but I don't believe they are on the board.

        Chris,

I'd love to see pictures of your beast. That sounds like a lovely combination you've got there! Do you have the aluminum or wood trim?
