Euro v. US options

What are the major differences here? I'm most interested in the voice-recognition phone system, which I've seen in the Mercedes, but wasn't sure if BMW had it yet. Also, has the Nav system gotten any better with the 2001? I read earlier that they were moving to a DVD based system that would speed things up.

Also wondering if anybody has been able to push their dealer to get some Euro options on a US car?

A sincere thanks to everyone on this board for the help. I have found that the dealers here sell so few of these cars that they don't really know the real story and I'm the one bringing them up to speed (or is it the other way around??). Others' personal experiences will help me avoid the stock answers and build the car of my dreams (literally - I woke up last night thinking about this car. Probably not the first...)

My car is a European delivery. I have had a similar experience in that my dealers haven't a clue what's going on. Actually, my favorite salesman told me that he isn't supposed to know that stuff. All he's supposed to do is know what's on the lot and get it off the lot. My interior is unlike any other that I've seen. If this strikes anyone's interest, there's the exact same car at Century West BMW in North Hollywood (Los Angeles), Ca, on Lankershim Blvd near Universal Studios. They couldn't respond to any of my questions, they couldn't even pinpoint the package that's on it. All I know is that it is the most beautiful and comfortable interior I've ever seen.

I think you are talking about the Comfort seat and the Active seat options which are available on Canadian orders and both of which are on my Oct/00 build 01/M5---the comfort seat has the articulating upperback as they have on the 7 series--the Active option gives you two gell filled bladders in the driver/pass seats that shifts from left to right and is intended to eliminate cramping on long trips--it changes your hip position to the lower spine--as part of the two some package came buttery soft gathered leather on all seats front and back that typically only is spec'ed on"individual" ordered vehicles--If thats what you have I know you will enjoy JPN/Cdn 01/M5 silver/black
