New Wheels Arrived W/Minor Damage- Touch-Up or Return to Vendor?
I just got my new winter wheels and tires for my M5 last night and 2 of the wheels have some very minor painted surface damage. I want to make sure they are protected them from the salt. One small spot (damaged in transit) is on the inside of the wheel and will not be visible, but the other is on the side of a spoke (it looks like someone put a pair of pliers on in). Can I touch these up using the same techniques as outlined for paint chip touch-ups? Or, should I just return the wheels and get new ones? The vendor will give me a credit if I keep the wheels.
Also is the high spot/low spot alignment applicable to my wheels and tires? The vendor claims it's a myth, but will document the misalignment in case I get any vibration after mounting the wheels.
Thanks!

It really depends on how much the credit is. If the credit is large, I'd say go for the credit -- they are only winter wheels. If the credit is small and this sort of thing is going to bug you, I would suggest returning them for replacements.

The amount of credit the vendor is willing to give me is $50.
Also, the valve stems do not line up with the yellow dot on the tires. Is this a problem? Let me know because they claim it is okay for them to be misaligned!
Thank you!

Ideally, it would be best to have the valve stems aligned with the yellow dots on the tires. Unfortunately, no one really pays attention to it
$50? How much was this package altogether? In all honesty, I would say return them and get them replaced. If they upped the ante to $100, I'd consider it.
It really depends on how much this bothers you. But $50 isn't much of a compensation in my opinion.

I purchased 17x8 Borbet Type E wheels in silver and 235/45VR17 Dunlop Winter Sport M2 tires. Originally the package cost $1,245 including shipping, but the price of the tires went down on the vendor's website over the weekend, and because they have a 30 day price guarantee, I got an additional $20 off the price. Tire Rack is the vendor.

I just got the same package. There was some minor scuffing on the inside of two rims, nothing on the outside. Even if there were, I would not bother to return myself. I will take a look to check on the alignment issue.
I think between all the salt, gravel, and general crap I see in my winter driving, they are going to be marked up before too long.
