Sold my beast, Aston Martin is in, how much is market price?

I just sold my 2001 LeMans Blue beast. After much contemplation between Porsche 996 TT, 360 Modena, f355 Berlinetta, Z8, and DB7 Vantage, I've decided to go with the Aston.

Porsche's looks is too common, I get to see 'regular' 996 very often, and the Turbo version is not that much different. The Ferraris are out due to reliability problems and looks that is too 'screaming look at me'. Z8 out due to strange retro looks and same M5 engine.

Now there is a local dealer willing to take $20,000 off MSRP of a NEW 6-speed 65 miles Black/Tan DB7. That surprised me. When I asked him the price he gave me the MSRP, but after I mentioned that the car was on eBay he immediately took off another $20,000. His dealership is relatively new, and he said this is the reason why he is so aggressive. The car has been sitting in the dealership for only 2 weeks.

I am new to Aston Martin / exotica field. Ferraris cannot be bought off MSRP (you're lucky if you can), that's for sure. But what's the deal with Aston Martin? Is this kind of big discount practice pretty common or there is something wrong with the car?
What about market price of used one? One dealer quoted me $119,000 for a 2000 with 7000 miles.

You already have a better handle on the market price than the rest of us. I do know one thing though - I love the A-M!

to my knowledge there is nothing wrong with the A-M tech side so I think it would be a safe buy. however this is such a big investment that you should get lots of info on it. I think our british members would know if there is something special.
At least the engine in the Vantage is not overly stressed compared to many other sportcars. 6l V12 and 420hp is not too much by any standard so it should be fairly reliable and last a long time. Of course the DB7 is mostly a GT car this should suit you I suppose? I´d buy it if I had the possibility....
the only thing that worries me is how the price was so loose. I have always seen A-M models keep their price extremely well (even growing) but perhaps the DB7 has been so common that this is not the case anymore. Also the fact that the car has been alraeady specced drops the price (people usually want to get their A-M exactly like they want it and can choose the options before it is started to be built). If this spec is to your liking it doesn´t matter does it..
hopefully this will get more comments.

Taipan,
Yep, I do want a GT. Other cars such as Porsche might outperform it, but I am not a racer or don't go to track. I don't care. The comfortability, sound, and most of all beauty I found most favorable in this car. In my opinion A-M cars are more beautiful than Ferrari. Only Vanquish beats this car hands down.
Oh, I forgot to mention that this car might be someone else's spec, but backed out before delivery. I believe most buyers value the exclusivity of making decision on options, special paint colors, special finish, etc. That I cannot do with this car, and might be the single reason for the discount, but what the heck, I like the color combo.

that is great that you find it fitting your needs.. also black/tan is very nice color combo so it isn´t so much shame not to be able to choose for yourself. I agree with you that the DB7 and Vanquish are very special cars..

Taipan,
Thanks for your comment. The only thing I worry now is that the depreciation rate which is very steep. A 2000 with 7000 for $119,000 from dealership, that means the dealer bought it from previous owner for under that price, maybe $100,000 , down from $155,000 base price. That is so sad considering I will sell the car in 2-3 years down the road.
I found another car with grey paint, which is very beautiful, more beautiful than black, but more mileage and automatic. It's in eBay, I can't link to it now, down for maintenance. I'll try later.

Go for it!, if your going to use it as an everyday car the depreciation will fall quite steeply but as a weekender(below 5000miles a year) the value will hold better, like with every car!

I don't see why this dealership is selling it at such a low price....it's soo low, it's scary! , maybe the manuals aren't so "hot" in your area?

But Aston Martin is coming out with a DB8 within the next 12-18 months so that will play a big part, on the financial side of things.

Good Luck on your choice!
