New to this board - Dealer question

I just got my 2001 M5 three weeks ago, and the car is great. I had a 95 540/6 that I superchaged(link below) so I've done quite a bit of work on my old E34. My question is this: My dealer says I can extend my service warrantee to 4 years 50k for $600. He says a full brake job alone is $1500. I drive almost all highway, and will probably see 2.5 oil changes in the next 20k (car has 30k on it now). Is it worth it? Should I only use rotors from BMW? I used aftermarket rotors on my 540 and they worked great. Thanks for the info in advance.

Norm,

I would go for the extension if this is a long term car for you.

Welcome aboard

I'd say - yes - it's worth going for it. Imagine the cost of fixing something major on this car!

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll do it and make sure it needs brakes before 50k.

aren't you covered under the factory warranty to 4yr/50k? or does the $600 extend it another 4yr/50k? the latter seems unlikely. btw, your old e34 looks great, hope it found a good owner.

Full Service extention to 4 years/50,000 miles was discussed on this board long time. If you use search feature - you can find postings with even less than $500 for this extension.

Full service covers everything except tires - including slipping clutch and breaks.

It is neither Standard nor Extended Warranty.

Welcome to the board.

Agree. You should buy it from the dealer willing to sell it the most cheaply. Any other BMW dealer will honor the extension.
