DVD navigation system available yet? - rehash
I was surfing the net the other day and came across this page:
Benzworld DVD navigation retrofit
It seems that folks are now able to retrofit a dvd navigation system into their ML's at a cost of approximately $800-$1500 depending on where you source your parts. According to that thread in the link above its an easy upgrade.
Anybody have any idea as to what the part numbers would be for the BMW version which I'd imagine not to be that different than the MB one.

DVD Nav would be nice to have but for the $$$$ you could buy all the NAV disks you would ever need.

DVD NAV unit is available! It's plug and play too, as I am told. Contact any dealer to order the unit. I'm sure Pacific BMW probably has the best prices.
Jason, if you order it, I want a nice review of the differences

I've seen the new DVD nav unit work in a new M3. Night and day difference between the CD rom version. Lighting quick refresh and surfing through menus. No more waiting for a route to be planned. It just comes up after you finished entering the information instead of waiting for it to figure out where the heck you are!

Called Pacific but the parts department is closed for the day. I'll call back tomorrow and report my results. I plan to order this unit! Any idea how much it goes for? The one for the ML retails for $1475!
The biggest single reason why I wanted to get the DVD version is because I'm sick and tired of having to pull over to swap the CD's whenever I cross between map regions.

Jason, will you post the price once you find out? I'm sure many of us here are interested if it doesn't take too big a bite out of our pockets. Thanx in advance

Jason,
Please keep the board updated with your findings and your review if you get it done! This would be the hottest upgrade in several months if it is possible and works as portrayed!
I want something faster and would prefer it to have more information (like phone #'s for restaurants!).

Jason,
Please do a comparison of the level of detail available between the two versions. I've read that the DVD based systems can sacrifice level of detail for quantity contained on a single disc.
