Are dashboard, kick panel, doors all in leather?
is this a special option? in the gallery section some European M5s have leather all around the interior and are handsomely stitched around the dashboard, doors, lower dash, etc. Is this available in the US?
ALso can I order other colors of ext and int other than those listed on bmwusa.com? I'd like the trim of black interior but caramel seats.

Yes, it's a special order through the BMW Individual Program. You will have to pay extra for what you want. Exterior individual paint alone costs a minimum of $2000. If you plan on leasing the car, your dealer will probably refuse to place your order. If you buy the car, you have a better chance of getting the order approved. Also all individual orders have to be specially approved by BMW Individual in Germany before the order is accepted.
Also, if you are going through with it, make sure you order a palatable combo. If you get a yellow M5 with blue seats and purple wood, forget about selling the car down the line to any sane person.

the luxury interior trim has all that in leather available in us.

so US buyers can only order "extended leather" (black or caramel) but NOT "full leather".. is this right?

Wasn't full leather an option in 2000 for US cars? I could swear that's what I have.

If I remember correctly, US 2000 models had 4 choices (sport in extended or all leather and luxury in extended or all leather). Extended means "more than a 540i", all means everything. From 2001 onward, the only 2 choices in the US are sport extended leather or luxury full leather. Since 2001 the top of the dash and doors are a simulated leather but complete with the stitching. You can't tell its not real looking at it. Check out M5lux2 at http://hobbystage.net/bmw/rdaugher/ of my black luxury interior with the burl walnut. The caramel interior is black above the wood and caramel below but I have seen it with black floor mats.

I think it was only the 2000 M5's that came with the suround leather dash etc?? After that the 2001's came with a normal plastic looking dash onwards??
