Ian:
Time to put the pedal to the metal--But sporadically over the next 1000 miles. Your engine will be grateful. These are the first pics I have seen of a RHD M5.
Two questions: 1) Did you change your gear lever knob from titanium to leather?
2) Your center armrest is lovely and much more comfortable than the U.S. cars. Did you have it installed or is it standard on UK cars?
Congratulations on being able to take the training wheels off your M5. I still have about two weeks to go...only at 700 miles.
Loved your pictures and got a kick seeing an M5 with right hand drive. Reminds me of the time I rented a car in London. Not only is driving on the wrong side of the street confusing, but shifting with the left hand is extremely tough when you're not used to it. But it was a blast anyway.
Peter - the gear knob and handbrake came from the factory in leather (I made a mention of that when I first posted pics). It seems that BMW chose the cheap way to fix the peeling trim problem!! The center armrest is standard (I didn't order a phone). I like it a lot, very comfortable when pulled forward. I think I remember a thread where some US people were talking about replacing theirs with this one.
Carmen - no, it switches off once the handbrake is released (you still get sound though). I do want it to stay on so I'll have to try and find out how to hack it - then I'll put in a DVD player and hopefully my girlfriend will watch the TV not my speedometer.
Jsut a small info.
You can get a chip that give you the possibility to watch the DVD or TV while you are driving. Just look in German Auto mags...
God luck
