Too lazy to read the manual, please help

I have an 02 and I set the DSP EQ to tailor to the music I like. The problem is that every time I turn off the car the DSP goes back to the system settings (flat). Do I have to go in every time to the DSP settings and select Memo 1 or is there a way for it to remember??? Thanks in advance for not telling me to do a search or read the manual.

It's a "feature" from BMW for a few of us unfortunate ones. Mine does the same thing every time. I've showed my service advisor the problem, but he doesn't know what to do with it. Maybe the next version of the software will fix it.

Try this to set DSP

  • From main menu, select DSP
  • Look at setting in upper right of screen, if "off" click On/Off -- it should show current setting, Concert, Memo 2, etc.
  • Click Memo
  • Scroll to Memo 1 and select
  • Scroll to Room/Echo and select
  • Set Room size and Echo then click return
  • Click Set
  • Set levels 80 through 12K then click return
  • Click Memo
  • Scroll to Memo 2 and select
  • Scroll to Room/Echo and select
  • Set Room size and Echo then click return
  • Click Set
  • Set levels 80 through 12K then click return
  • Click Memo
  • Scroll to Memo 3 and select
  • Scroll to Room/Echo and select
  • Set Room size and Echo then click return
  • Click Set
  • Set levels 80 through 12K then click return
  • Press main menu button
If that does not work, then you probably have a software problem.

Hey JFB thats exactly what I have done and the radio does remember my setup (memo's 1-3) but once I remove the key from the engine the DSP returns to a flat (no positive or negative adjustments) and I have to go in and choose my memo choice again once I start the car up again.

I loathe the DSP - about once a month it goes bonkers (must have been designed by a woman )

Vic

I am running version 19 software in my 07/01 and the DSP does remember the settings if I follow this procedure.

It's not the settings (memo1, memo2, etc.) that seem to be the problem. It's more that when he starts the car, he has to go back and select the appropriate one that he likes.

I can understand why this is cumbersome and annoying. Everytime you turn on the car or radio, you have to go and manually select memo1. Unfortunately, I do not know what the fix is.

HA HA HA!

Sooo true. Especially when you use the key memory and the seat and mirror memory settings don't go all the way. Just goes part of the way then stops. Have to press the button yourself to let it fully reset the seat and mirrors.
