Brake question

New to board and BMW. I have a question about the brakes on the M5. My car has 8,900 miles on it. I experience some high pitched squells when lightly applying brakes during the last 10-0 mph. Not always present and not present with hard breaking. The dealer said don't worry about it, it will work its self out. Any input? Thanks!! Great Board!

Brake noise

Not uncommon, had the problem on a non BMW car and used an high temp RTV product on the back of the brake pads that keep them from vibrating slightly and producing the high pitch noise. If it really bugs you, try different brake pads.

Welcome aboard, M5NSX! Your first BMW, eh? How do you like it so far? Try a search and see if you find any previous threads on brake squeal.

Maverick-absolutely love it!! Since I got my beast this August, I hardly drive my NSX. Both awesome cars, different feel and purpose. As far the squeal, it seems to have gotten better. May have had some wax residue on rotors when cleaning rims to keep that brake dust undercontrol.

M5NSX,

The break squeal is common but should be gone given your mileage. My 2002 had it, drove me crazy, is just about gone now with 3700 miles on the odometer.

good luck
