        extended warranty referral

Anybody have a good referral on extended warranties?

My '00 is coming up on the end of the factory warranty, and I'd like to find something that will cover the expensive bits, i.e. driveline.

My local dealer doesn't even sell them anymore. The quote from the owner was "they spend more time finding ways not to pay than paying," which matches my wife's experience with the extended warranty she's got on her 318ti.

Any reliable suppliers of extended warranty coverage out there?

Since you are in California, you may be out of luck. I bought an extended warranty from Warrentygold in December 2001. They told me since then , California has passed a law that only dealers can sell extended warrenties, no third party vendors like warrantygold, or warrantybynet etc. You can check various web sites like, Autoweb, Edmunds, Yahooauto, etc. They may have links to extended warrenty vendors. However I don't have high hopes at this point.

You said your dealer won't sell you an extended waranty? That sounds strange.

Hey, don't blow my cover here. She thinks it's a silver 540...

Actually, she is wearing kind of thin. While we both really love the 318ti, its really fun to drive and with the hatch it can swallow a ton, she's starting to yearn for something new.

It's especially bad now that her dad matched his new 3 series with a new 5 touring to replace their old one. My wife is starting to get serious new car smell envy. And with the new truck hitting the driveway in a couple of weeks, it may push her over the edge.

She's leaning towards a TT convertible (no, not the fast one, the Audi).

It will be a bittersweet day, as the '96 318ti only has about 30k miles on it. It will time out of the warranty before it miles out. Anybody looking for a pristine black 318ti?
