Saw an Alpine White M5 today...

Actually saw the same car twice today around Edgware Road (London).

At first I had to look really hard - was this actually an M5? The Alpine White really looks different and is (surprisingly) very stealthy.

This is probably the least favoured colour, and I can see why. Anyone who wants their car to look like a Toyota, choose Alpine White.

Are you sure you weren't looking at a Toyota. Those of us with alpine white might be offended by your statement. I believe you have a right to your opinion. Fortunately, that's all it is.

Ashok, you obviously have never had one barrel down on you while you were looking in your rear view mirror. IMO Alpine White on an M5 is stunning, and the fact there are so few of them makes it all the more special.

What A-shok? Your personal bi-*** is showing. Calling an M5 a Toyota look alike because of the color? Shame on you. Expand your horizons allow some other colors in.

Well, opinions are like a$$holes, and everybody's got one. And here is my:

I agree w/ Ashok, white is just a very poor choice of color for E39 (this is my opinion, and yours may be different), and I think the sales stats shows it , as it is one of the least ordered color. Also from my personal non-scientific speculation, the 2 toughest color for resale is white and dark green for E39 M5s.

I have nothing against white, and think most of the M cars looks fantastic in white. However the E39 is just "too big" of a car for the color white.

Don't be offended guys - an M5 is great in any colour.

However, I've never seen Alpine White up close until today and I just think it's not the best for this car. Perhaps in a sunny climate (eg Florida) it looks better, but on the city streets of London darker cars look better for sure (IMHO).

I'd take an Alpine White M5 over any other car though :p

To all alpine white haters

The alpine white is "my" choice and it is the most stunning color on any year M5. Picked up my E60 last week and everyone at the dealership was saying how they always see the other dark colors coming through. They could not get over how good the car looked with the silverstone interior. All the other colors hide the amazing lines of this car. The white just makes them "pop." Everyone has there opinion and I respect that but the Alpine White is the best IMO.
