ECU UPRGRADE Digital motors

Hello all,

I wonder if somebody on this board bought and install a ECU UPRGRADE from Digital motors (https://wb.lerelaisinternet.com/wb091/choix_langues.htm)
on his M5 ?

Also if you remove the speed limiter, what is the maximum speed of the M5 ? around 280 km ?

William

Hi,
Never heard of them. They claim 42 extra horses. That is by far the most ever claimed, just with the ECU manipulation. Other tuners think it is impossible to find any gains just through the ecu? Any volunteers on the board to give it a try?

I reviewed ALL the ECU mods bedore having RMS do mine, but even that is a questionable 18 hp. 42? I have SEVERE doubts about that. Have you searched all the previous ECU thredas on this board. There are many !

I have heard the top speed with the limiter removed is 188 mph, and I've had mine to an indicated 170, but I think the speedo is about 5-8 mph optimistic.

I'm sure others on this board have topped theirs out. I'm curious what everybody else thinks the top speed is also.

I went up to a bit over 290km/h on the speedo and she was still asking for more. I remember Johan had a pic of his speed maxed out ! I think he has the record and mentionned just under 300km/h

42 extra HP's is a lot...

Claus
That's incorrect, they claim a gain of 24 newton meters

Multiply ft. lbs. by 14.593 to get Newton meters, so, as you
see, it's not much.

Still they claim the following on their website:

Original CV: 400
gain CV: 42
gain NM: 24

(not sure what CV stands for but it seems to coincide with the original HP. Horse is cheval in french. Maybe that's the C.

With a peak torque gain of 24 Nm (to 524 Nm) it means 5% extra power at each RPM in the power-band.

To get 42 BHP extra (to 442) means 10.5% extra power. Power=RPM x Torque
To get a 10.5% power increase with a 5% torque increase, they need to increase red-line RPM 5.5% (to 7350 RPM)

I agree, 42 hp is a bit too much of a claim. No tuner that we know is claiming this much. Superchip claimed 24 max I think to recall, and 200 extra rpm (can't really tell).

As for top speed, I had mine up to 290km/h (clock) and had to back off, but it certainly felt like it could keep going (although it would need a lot of empty road ahead).
