What is leather and what is vinyl on our doors? I have a 2000 and was doing a little detailing and was stumped. I think the airbag covers and the handles are leather but what about the the rest of the door? Also, is the back of the seat leather?
You are correct in your assumption. The door is vinyl except for the air bag portion and handle. The rear of the seat is plastic to my knowledge. I beleive there is a picture of an idividual option car that clearly identifies what is leather and what is vinyl. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your response. Are you sure about the seat backs? They seem to be leather. Or at least the Leatherique leather conditioner I put on them seemed to help. I logged on to the Indiviual page but it did not show what was leather and what was vinyl. I assume the tunnel is leather?
What exactly do you mean by the seat backs. Are you talking about the leather pouch on the back of the seat? If so, that is leather I beleive. The M5s I have been in have all had a plastic backing to the front seats. I use a vinyl product on the transmission tunnel and lower dash.
It depends on which interior you have. I believe there were two options in 2000 "extended" leather and all leather. The difference between All and Extended being mainly whether the upper dash is leather (as in the all) or not (as in the extended). If your rear "parcel" shelf is velour, you have the extended leather.

I am not sure, but I'd guess that Nappa Point is not the same as Nappa Leather (i.e., it may be synthetic). Otherwise, why would BMW make the distinction?
