Post V1 vs PP8500 (vs K40)

I'm a new owner, and I've heard for years that the V1 is tops (it seems to be the detector everyone here swears by, although the K40 gets its share of praise). But reviews like www.radartest.com/ make me wonder if it isn't a bit dated, and if the Passport 8500 might have overtaken it (same basic sniffing ability but fewer falses). Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I've never had a problem with the sensitivity of my V1. It has always picked up traps in more than enough time. Even reflected radar around curves and overpasses.

I don't think that the sensitivity is much of an issue with these levels of detectors, they are all good. The reason I think that most of the guys on this site prefer the V1 is the ability to determine how many radars are being detected and where they are. This will really save your tail with a lot of the trickier speed traps.

Ditto what Jim said: I think sensitivity for most of these units is right on par with one another. It's the ability to pinpoint the location and number of radar sources that I've come to find invaluable. I've been using the V-1 for quite a few years now. After receiving my first laser ticket (expunged, thanks to my friendly traffic attorney), I'll be upgrading the the latest, laser-inclusive model. I'd not consider anything else, and I've tried both K-40 and Passport models!
