Initial Dyno Numbers from Turner Motorsport (TMS)
Well,
I just got back my dyno sheet from Turner Motorsport and the results are:
+5 hp over Dinan
+10 ft/lbs torque over Dinan
So, if Dinan claims 5 hp for their software, this is a gain of:
+10 hp
+15 ft/lbs torque
You also get, +300 rpms (rev limiter) and top speed limiter removed.
Yes!! There is an alternative!
Here is my dyno sheet:
They are still working on fabricating the Brake Ducts (carbon fiber).

No, the Dinan software gives you 5hp and ALL it does is raise the rev limiter 300 rpms and removes the top speed limiter, it does NOTHING else, no engine map changes, no vanos timing changes.
The TMS software gains 10hp over stock and gives much more torque.

Very interesting Eric. Is this Turner's own software or Conforti's? I cannot wait to see your M5 at the next gathering. It is quickly becoming one of the most modded M5s in Boston !

Eric,
How is it different when you drive your car? Can the butt dyno feel it?

that's not completely accurate, fwiw.
dinan software changes the idle to a bit shy of 1K (as of the last release), changes the "fly-by-wire" settings of throttle response and steering in both "modes" and changes the expected O2 mixture depending on the CAI, etc... although, i have doubts about the 5 HP gain from software alone - you're probably seeing that due to the CAI and exhaust combo.
i just picked up my car after getting the DME overwritten, and the perceived throttle response/butt-o-meter was a wonderous change after the 5 mile drive down to dinan for the update... in fact, i think this "new" software version might have bumped up the HP a bit over the last.

Eric,
Please elaborate a bit more. Iam confused:
1) Do you have DINAN and TMS software on your car? If so, did you get a run before TMS and after TMS software?
2) What are the two graph colors? DINAN vs. TMS

No, there is only 1 set of software at a time. The comparison
is between Dinan and TMS software. The lower lines are the Dinan lines and the higher lines are the TMS lines.
I'm pickup up the car tomorrow and I'll post pictures of the "memory card" which stores your "current" settings. The software mates via your VIN number so it's locked to your car. Basically then can unload the Dinan software and the TMS software at will, only becaues they read out the Dinan software in the first place.

Ok, here's the skinny:
With the TMS software:
@ 6200 RPM Max HP is 357.7
@ 4700 RPM Max Torque is 330 ft/lbs
With the Dinan software:
@6500 RPM Max HP is 340
@5000 RPM Max Torque is 320 ft/lbs
So you see, the TMS software reaches approx 7 hp higher than Dinan at lower RPMS and reaches MUCH higher torque (10ft/lbs) sooner at 4700 RPMS
Ignore the high torque numbers around 1800 rpms they are irrelevant.
Now, remember this is comparing Dinan to TMS. In theory TMS offers approximately a 12hp gain (dinan claims 5 + 7 from TMS)
and approximately 20 ft/lbs of torque (dinan claims 10 + 10 from TMS)
So, you are running:
394 + 12 = 416 hp
400 + 20 = 420 ft/lbs
OK?
Leaving now to pick up the car !!
/Eric
