preferred motor mount brand?

i see that the 540 and m5 use different part numbers for the motor mounts. I would have to assume they are interchangeable as people have swapped s62's into 540's without buying new mounts.

When i first got the car i was not "wallet broken" yet and bought some cheap parts not knowing the difference. I believe it was duetsche parts, a chinese brand disguised to sound german. After a year im almost certain they are dead.

What is the preferred brand of m5 motor mount? stock corteco? or is there a reasonably priced aftermarket that is better?

because i used oem trans mounts i hope they are fine but will consider urethane ecs mounts.

For motor mounts I would only use the stock oem ones from the dealer specifically for the s62 well worth it ....this isn't something that you change every year or 2 or 4 the oem lasts a long time you can get a discount for oem... As for trans mounts well rogue makes 2 kinds I use the street/race ones I like em mine have about 80k miles and have a new set on my shelf to replace these when I have some time...

Stock OEM are good - see the drift car that my friend has, or the numerous supercharged cars around here running 11s in the 1/4mi.

I just ordered a bunch of parts and used FuriousMethod.com to compare prices. For the motor mounts Autohaus AZ and Pelican were significantly cheaper ( by ~$20) at $58 a piece than the other suppliers for the OEM Corteco mounts. You'd also qualify for free shipping from either supplier if you buy a pair.

lol i did furiousmethod.com too and came up with the same results this morning before i left for work.

its amazing how noticeable new engine mounts are. the motor really shifts around when they are beat. i have seen pics where the rubber is completely disconnected from the cup it sits in. When i changed out the original mounts last year i notice a change in the way the entire drivetrain sat. The fan shroud clearance was different as well as the gap at the trans cross mount t-shaped bump stop.

OEM, if you get an aftermarket one you take the risk of getting the engine vibrations transmitted into your cabin.

Isn't the Z8 mount much stronger?

all i know is 540 and m5 uses different part number even though you can supposedly use either version so i assume the m5 has a stiffer rubber.

I are an engineer so I cut the old mounts apart to see how they work and ...I still have no idea. The oil-filled part must be to dampen out some vibration frequencies, maybe even some troublesome ones, so I would suggest sticking with OEM.
