Here's the one with the bike. Not much to see. Starts out in Bobafett's favorite tunnel (92W-->280S) - I was stuck behind a Suburban going about 60 and this bike flew by me. You'll hear a little running commentary. Short and sweet....

Greg, 2 hours ago I watched you video, looked outside through the window, and saw my beauty.. So I took off....
280 to 92, turned around at El Camino and backed on 92 to the 280 .. I had to take the tunnel and the on ramp.... Oh man! it was good.. I needed a cigarette after (I think I may have soiled my self )

Continued on 280 to Foothill exit and took it into the mountains, up Montebello Road.. Oh man, what a car.. (took a couple of turns sideways )..

On the way back home, right after the reservoir, after a tight turn which I took at 50 mph or so, I see the sheriff's car. Too late.. When I saw him, he was pooling the radar gun back into the car. And of course he is behind me, following me to where he could pull me over..

I stopped, he gets out of his car..
"How are you doing today sir?" "I am fine officer, what did I do?" "you did 52 in a 30 zone sir.." "Really? but I was so careful officer.." He backs up a step or two "New car?.. M5? nice!"..... (10 SEC PAUSE)..
"will you slow down, or should I give you a citation?" "Ill slow down officer.. " "I thought you will.. Drive carefully"..

PHEW!!!!!

Arie.

Arie -

Sounds like you had a great drive. And great luck! I'm so glad you didn't get a ticket - guy must have been in a really good mood.

I took the Porsche out today and have a cupla new videos, because all you guys asked....

I think you'll like 'em. They're up at the "secret location" but need to be moved and I have to be told the URLs before you can see 'em.

Be careful guys - I think there was a special on the news a short time ago indicating that those roads had the highest number of CHP tickets in N. Calif.! I think what we all need to do is head out to one of my favorite runs, Nevada's Highway 50, "the loneliest road in America". Actually, they do close down Nevada SR 318 for a yearly race (called the Silver State Classic) held in May. Info can be found at drivingevents.com. Could be fun!

The CHP don't have to work very hard to catch the zillions of idiots who don't pay attention. Even the slow traffic on 280 goes 75mph. If you watch your rear-views, scan the vista point on-ramps and don't drive like a dork, you can exploit the road the way it was designed to be used.

For those of you who don't know this area, 280 is a beautiful freeway that was built about 30 years ago - i.e., relatively new. If memory serves, it was designed for an 85mph speed limit. The lanes are extra wide.

Arie: what luck! Way to go!

Greg: fantastic, and yes, that tunnel is awesome. Windows down, sunroof open, blip and down into 3rd with 6k on the tach, just wait until you're all the way in and BAM, then hold out for the shift and try to time it so that it's a smooth transition just before you exit the tunnel....sounds SPECTACULAR!

good stuff indeed, keep it up!
