True Shadowline grills?

First of all, when I say "Shadowline" kidney grills, I am thinking it would match our window trim from the factory, not the matte black ABS grills that are ubiquitous.

So this is a two-parter:

1- Do these exist for our cars?
2- Does anyone have a high quality picture, preferably on a TiAg?

I've looked at probably a million pictures of black grills on TiAg e39s, and still can't decide if I want to go with the full matte blackout look.

Thanks!

You could easily spray paint a pair of grills with some high gloss paint. You could also Plastidip your chrome kidney grills just to see if you like the matte black and later decide to peel the stuff off if you didn't.

The are literally thousands of pictures out there. Just do a search.

After years of reading about plasti-dip, I didn't realize it was so easy to peel off. I'll probably give that a go.

One reason I shied away from simply painting matte grills is the likelihood of chipping, but I might have a go at that too.

Thanks for the ideas.

Yeah but, how hard is it just to spray them again?

The black chrome kidney grills are from Schmiedmann. They are expensive too. I don't particularly like them because they don't match anything else on the car. Matte black grills, matte black diffuser all the way

I had a body shop spray mine gloss black (originally matte black). A more finished look vs. the flat/matte versions IMO.

Not TiAg, but....

I just hate that the tabs on all the kidneys snap so easily. I got brand new ones from Bimmian and the tabs always snap... bleh.

Don't worry about it chipping. I've had mine plasti-dipped for a couple years now. No chips! I did spray about 3 coats on.
