...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring

...well, its been some time since I went to the 'ring, and since Frits was going, as well as Derek - - OK - - I started the 3+ hour drive before 6am. Then I came upon what looked like 50 police cars etc and ambulances and helicopters on the road near Liege, bad accident with a bus - one killed;

Pictures and Galleries - AlertNet

...very sad seeing all those folks injured along the road - - not good....

...approaching the 'ring the traffic got bad - uh oh, it was DTM weekend

...anyway I finally made it there, hit the track with Frits as a passenger;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-mering.jpg

...then Frits started his fast laps - here headed out with Derek;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-frits-derek.jpg

...a usual day with plenty of nice cars, one thing you can say for sure about the 'ring, if you throw a rock you'll either hit a Porsche GT3RS or an M3 - my fav is the GT2;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-gt2.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-gt2a.jpg

...a nice supercharged M3 and another M3;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-sc-m3.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-m3.jpg

...amazing how exotic the rentals are getting;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-rental.jpg

...of course the large F10 M5 ring taxi was in use, no doubt thrilling the occupants with the similated sound of a real v8 in a car the size of an E34 - just kidding ;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-ring-taxi.jpg

...some R8's;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-r8.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-r8a.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-r8b.jpg

...Derek checking out a 911 and then entering the 'ring;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-derek911.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-derek.jpg

...and the rest are misc examples of the eye candy on display;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-gtr.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-gtra.jpg

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-f430.jpg

...and one thing you just can't stand, it's when these guys park their cars next to you, like they did here in this shot of my car parked - - you know - - so when the crowd is around admiring your M5 theirs gets seen ;

...Another Sunday at the Nürburgring-my-m52.jpg

...overall, a nice day - a little warm, but a good time for gear heads.

I edited the picture, so you can see why I look so worried

In the morning, it was still pretty OK to drive. But boy, in the afternoon I almost melted in my car. It must have been a billion degrees inside the car.
These old cars are rock solid though. Not a single issue after pushing the car that much in this terrible heat... Driver was overheated though. Drove all the way home with the windows open, and even at 270km/h, it was still way too hot in the car.

Yes it is. Spoke to the owner. He doesn't speak English very well, and I don't speak German at all. He confirmed what I allready suspected. He comes there EVERY SUNDAY. Never been to the Ring without him being there in the last 2 years.

good eyes - - I also see this car almost every time I am there - but I've never seen the driver next to it/got the opportunity to approach him...

...there were a number of E39 M5's, including this paint scheme - - (Frits said he was pretty quick on the 'ring);

...might explain why with the heat and the oil smell, I was ready to hurl after a couple laps with you

Yeah, you survived 2 laps. One of the 'youngsters' you saw at Devil's Dinner needed to get out after 1 lap.
