Changing Sway bar links

Hi All,

When changing sway-bar links,

1. Should both sides be done, even if only one side appears to need repair
2. Should nuts be tightened with vehicle weight on the wheels.

I did one side today and tightened the sway bar nuts with the wheel off and suspension hanging. However, sway-bar geometry and range of motion does not emulate control arm motion (control-arms need pre-loading before tightening as we know) and handling is definitely a bit wonky.

I figured i would check before I do other side.

Thanks in advance.

I do both; but only because I am anal like that! I'm sure changing one would be fine! I just get the holes to line up; and tighten the nuts on the links. End of story! Same goes for the rear sway bar mounts; I've had a few break, and I replace both of them at the same time; I still find it weird they use aluminum for those brakets!

I did both of mine but that was only because I presume that the other (from factory still on 10 year old car) could also be prone to wear/weakness. It's pretty cheap any way.
It makes sense that the rear ones is aluminium because of galvanic corrosion - not sure if its called exactly that in english Likewise the front ones aren't since the frame they bolt onto isn't.
