          My Beast Is Sick!

          Hi all,

This is my first post to the board, but I've been following along with everyone for about a month now. I just bought a '00 M5 for my 30th birthday (**** I feel old). I've had it for about a month now and understand why you all call it a "Beast."

Today, I'm having withdrawls. I brought it to the dealer to have a look at why the "Service Engine Soon" light was constantly illuminated. I also had a few other things for them to check:

          (1) Low (weird?) humming sound from front brakes when braking less than 10mph
          (2) Extremely loud exhaust (sounded nice though)
          (3) Considerable loss of power (felt like a mustang)
          (4) Keyless remote entry stopped working
          (5) And a request to have the computer reprogrammed so the door locks would lock at speeds greater than 5mph (or whatever).

Just heard back from the service manager and he says that an electronic sensor within the emissions system died and that the exhaust was being fed back into the car, instead of being expelled. He also said that I should have noticed a HUGE loss of power. I was wondering why I was experiencing intermittent loss of power. I just thought it was DSC or my inexperience with the car. The dealer put me into a bright yellow 3.0i Z3 for the weekend. It's not near as fast as an M, but gutsy to say the least. I just want my M back running the way it should.

          Missing my Beast,
          Richard of Las Vegas, NV

PS. Thanks to this board, I've already purchased and installed the V1. It hasn't saved my *** yet, but I sure feel safer with it installed.

          Richard,

Welcome. You picked an excellent birthday present. Hope you get her back soon before you start getting the DT's. BTW, if your car is a '00 model, why do you have it listed as a bluewater color. That year did not have bluewater. You must be thinking of Silverstone.
