Help identifying headlight "trim seal" part

I hope you guys can help me figure out a confusing part situation:

I mistakenly thought P/N 51138168812 was the rubber trim piece at the top of each headlight. That's #8 in the diagram with the grille.

However, it's definitely not--those are P/N 63126908405 and 63126908406 (#1 in the headlight close-up diagram).

Does anyone know what the first seal does, and where it's used? I can't see where to replace it. Has anyone replaced one and could give me a tip?

Thanks!

Ummm...no...never bought anything I didn't need or that didn't fit (nose is growing...)

Luckily the little rubber strips were the cheapest dealer item I've ever seen--$2 each. The more substantial, correct piece is $20 from the dealer.

I'm heading to pick it up soon--dealer's my only option since I'm heading out on my cross-country drive on Monday. Don't want worn front end seals when I'm driving 3,200 miles through some pretty strange weather in the middle of the country!

The seal you bought goes between the painted trim piece (below the Headlight) and the headlight itself. What it does, well, suppose it helps stop stuff and moisture from taking that route. Air inlet snorkel is not far away. . . anyhow, that is where it goes!
