throttle response reset procedure?

I read somewhere on the board about a procedure to 'reset' the throttle response for the pedal. I tried searching for it but i can't seem to find it. Anybody know the steps? thanks!

Haven't seen what you are referring to, but most cars these days "learn" how you drive and adapt. Not sure about the M5, but some cars you can disconnect the battery, wait a bit, and reconnect to reset. I like to turn my lights on to make sure any residual stored electricity is gone when my battery is disconnected.

Other than that, if you want more throttle response, the sport button, a CAI, and a tune should all help.

Do you mean syncing the throttle positioning sensors?

from what i remember of the procedure.. it was something like turning the key to position 2.. then something about slowly pressing the go pedal.
I want the alpha n but with new coilovers coming and the need for some 19's..i just cant afford it haha

I know there is a process for automatic cars which is similar to what you're trying to describe. It is key in position II, press the gas pedal past the kick down point and However, I don't think there is such a thing for our cars.

Could you be a bit more specific about what you are asking? I am not aware of any end user means of changing drive by wire throttle response without reprogramming.

But then again... I learn more about my car on this forum every time I log on. LOL

Don't think there is any procedure. It was reported along time ago that if you changed a TPS there was a learn proceedure, but that turned out to be false. The system is adaptive which means it is constantly learning. Even if you made it relearn it would likely end up in the exact same place it is.

Why are you trying to do this?

Buy the tune, wait on the rims! The tune will reset your throttle for you. It feels WAY better! It's hard because you see pics of rims and know your end point. On the other hand you don't know what a tune will do by reading a post as much as if you'd driven one. Trust me, get the tune, save for the rims!

Get the go, wait on the show! you will see the rims only on the walk to and fro!
You will feel the tune!

@blockdoc: i read this online THROTTLE MEMORY RESET and i was just wondering if this was possible to do on our M5. Apparently its something thats done on automatic cars.

@Sailor24: My pedal feel is kind of lacking these days.. i'm waiting on some new MAFs to see if that would make a difference. Until they arrive i figured it couldn't hurt to see if there was a procedure to reset throttle response on our cars.

@bibledriver: i missed the groupbuy for the 2nd time

If your MAF's haven't been changed it will make a big difference! Did on mine. If you can't wait go and buy some CRC MAF cleaner from O'Reily's. Comes in a grey can. This is the only one the works I hear. But this will make a difference, but it only lasts about a week until the effects of the cleaning start to drop off.
