It has begun

Starting the rod bearings/clutch work today.

Will also end up doing the timing tensioner (along with an inspection of the timing chain guides) and valve cover gaskets and headlight adjusters.

She has 179,565 and all original internals.

Halfway jacked up now...It has begun-imageuploadedbytapatalk1343758405.705243.jpg

Here are a few pics, I will call it quits for the day before long.

Done so far are the vehicle up and wheels off, oil drained, p/s valve cover done and working on d/s now.

Here she is jacked up

(yes I know I need a foglight)

Begin!

Runners removed and about to take plenum off
Untitled

p/s valve cover is off

I couldn't get a very good look down into the timing chain guides, but I was able to get this pic of the VANOS chain. The only visible wear was that very very small grayish looking area just to the left of the chain (I held the chain over that tiny bit to see if there was any wear and to take the pic). She looks great for 180k, I would hope the timing guides look the same.

New gasket is on with Wurth DP300 at the corners

and the front timing cover seams

Back together (the easy side anyway)

Here are a few more pics for those who are bored

d/s valve cover removed
Untitled

I did notice a little bit more wear on this tensioner guide, a noticeable line, but still very shallow.
Untitled

Waiting for the new gasket and DP300
Untitled

This is how she is going to sleep tonight, removed the headlights for the adjuster replacement.
Untitled

If anyone has any comments or questions, just say something.
