Turbo M5 S62

There's a thrread over on Bimmerforums that shocked me... An actual running, working TURBO S62 M5! It's being built in France, luckily by someone who knows turbo systems well, but more from a Chevy point of view. He's learning lots though, and seems quite determined to get it 100%. Vanos is disabled, using aftermarket engine management. Sounds very promising and I hope he can share all his knowledge of the build with the community, as I think a properly sorted turbo would be a fantastic option for our beasts!

Perhaps if you consider knowledge to be used only for straight-line cars driven on weekends.

bummer the OEM ITBs were removed for a single-throttle solution. Not sure why they didn't start with an M62 at this point, lost ITBs, lost VANOS. 0.6L gained doesn't seem quite worth it.

lots of drag race fellas over there. Tuning a turbo car in which the engine is only under sustained loading for a few seconds is far easier than the tuning a something like a turbo road-race car.

Some guys know a lot. Most bandwagon onto who they think know a lot.

I get eternally frustrated with people telling me how they've chipped their turbocharged car and now it outputs ridiculous horsepower. And how long exactly can you produce that power before heat buildup makes your engine wilt? Or melts itself? Then of course there is the minor detail of actually useable power - massively potent turbo drag cars tend to be an on/off affair, there's very little controllable input on the throttle.
