Anyone done a half muffler delete?

I have searched for hours reading posts and listening to clips of exhaust set ups and am drawn to the more subdued rumble like the magnaflows and a few others. I can't quite bring myself to do the full muffler delete, however Timmays tips are beautiful and the delete is bad a$&, just a little too loud for me. I have read a couple posts about guys deleting the inner muffler on each side and straight piping back. They reported that the exhaust note was more quiet but there weren't any comparative videos or much discussion on the matter. I am wondering if anyone has done this and is able to compare the exhaust sound to that of the full delete. I'm not looking to be convinced to do the full delete, just those with firsthand experience. Thanks for the insight.

Just my 2c....I think what you're trying to accomplish is more trouble than it's worth. A muffler delete really isn't that loud and it's quite manageable. I really don't think you'll regret it!

As I did my muffler delete recently and spent the time on the same research...."go full muffler delete or dont bother" - Exact words from another member's post, and I agree with him. Also you can easily revert to stock mufflers whenever you decide since they will not be modified.

Or do a res delete, and use that spot for an electic cutout. That way you get straight pipes when you want roar, and muffled when you dont.

just do the muffler delete. it's not that loud, there's no drone. you can keep it totally tame - it's only pronounced when you're in it pretty hard.

+1 I heard his ^^^ this weekend, and there were at least 6 times I walked up to his car that was running, and I really didn't know until I was literealy inches from the car, I think the engine bay made more noise than the exhaust at idle.

.02

edit; also, IMO, if you think "path of least resistance, I bet most of the exhaust is bypassing the muffler anyhow with the backpressure on the muffler side, and you can see that most of the "steam" is coming from the center two. Just delete both and save the weight.

I originally did the delete, had the mufflers put back on at smog time (I know it's possible to pass smog without mufflers), drove with the mufflers for a few months while tracking down high HC emissions and then back to the delete.

Immediately after the delete, it does sound a bit loud when you're heavy on the throttle compared to stock. After about 3-4 days of driving it like that though, it sounded perfect. Just the right amount of snarl and volume at mid-high throttle, very quiet at cruise and no drone whatsoever.

I quite literally get several compliments a week on the sound, just last week by a guy that pulled up alongside at a light and made me roll down the window so he could tell me "that thing sounds soooo suhweet!". It's a terrific mod.
