Would you SWAP your M5 with e30 M3?

Hello guys.

I recently came across a possibility to swap my car with 1990 M3 e30 in original and great condition.
My car with the mods listed in my signature costs on average here in Kazakhstan around 30 000.
The asking price of an M3 guy is around 35 000.

So, pricewise, it seems like an equal swap. What do you think? Would you swap?
Here is the ad of that car in Russia Продажа легкового подержанного (б/у) автомобиля BMW M3 (E30) 2.3i (200Hp) 1988 года за 1 200 000 рублей.

P.S. I own an M5 for 4 years and it is not a daily drive. I love it a lot, but I also love an M3 though I never had it. Considering its popular acclaim and the rising prices (as they get older) I thought it would be a great investment and a great car to have.

What your opinions once again?

Its going to feel gutless but very fun and agile to drive.

I have both they a totally 2 very different cars....
E30 M3 is fun no real hp so you wind it up and it goes like a slingshot
but it will be better investment if the mileage is kept reasonbly low

For me the M5 is a daily driver the E30 is not
the M5 has torque and power the E30 has approx 1/2 of the M5

My M3 is a investment my M5 is my DD.

my 2 cents

Guessing from Blue Thunder's signature, I'd say he knows a lot about "gutless" e30 m3's

I wouldn't make the switch, but I don't think of my cars as financial investments. I don't think the agility of the e30 can compete with the whole package of the e39 m5. (Not to say that the e30 m3 isn't an awesome car that I would not want to own one day. Just wouldn't give up the beast for it.)

It depends on the use that you give the M5. For me, the M5 is a long distance cruiser that can tackle the twisites. The M3 will not be a good long distance cruiser but will tackle the twisties like no other.

As such, I wouldn't switch.

Here is the ad in english. I would say not a chance, but I might consider an E34 M5 only a 3.8 touring .

No here too. Above point was good about it as a second car, or if you want it as an investment. Do you DD your M5? If so, there will be a loss IMO. If your M5 just sits, you may never know the difference. I wouldn't do it, but that's me.

Since my M5 is a DD, I definitely would not switch. However if it was just a weekend cruiser, I would definitely consider it. I used to have an E30 325is and I LOVED the way it handled. I could keep up with MUCH faster cars in the twisteis (which there are a LOT of around here.)
