e-brake handle removal tip!

Hi guys, i wanted to install a leather handle because my wooden one broke + i didnt like it from the begining.

I read a fee threads telling to keep pulling hard until it breaks loose, unfortunately this didnt do it for me. Pulling hard actually made the wood part come loose from the bottom part as you can see in the pic, this revealed what really secures the handle to the lever itslef. Its not glue but its a green colored tip rivet that goes from the hole in the middle of the black part to te lever. There is no way of removing this without damaging the rivet. So i tapped the edges with a small flathead screwdriver and hammer (gently) o damage the rivet head and then cut it with a cutter then the assembly separated from the lever easy as cake!

Happy DIY! dunno if this has been covered before, i just felt like posting..

Helpful. Thanks! Any pictures of the leather handle? How did you secure it to the metal lever?
