Greetings from Minnesota!

New owner, bought it as a daily driver and am LOVING the car. It's a 2000 carbon black (actually love that color) on black with 94k miles. Got a great deal on the car and it's in great shape for the years/miles.

I read up on the car A LOT on this forum before buying, so thank you to everyone who's contributed! The body is in good shape, just has some minor imperfections/scratches but still looks great. Biggest cosmetic problem is a cracked front bumper cover (don't notice it until you're up close). Additionally the wheels have some road rash. But none of these things bother me too much, I'll probably tackle the bumper cover first.

On the plus side, no rust anywhere (even underneath), both banks of VANOS have been repaired already, new clutch at 80k miles, has had some suspension work, already upgraded to the auto-leveling lights and newer fog lights, interior is spotless with little to no wear spots, no stuck pixels, a/c blows cold, and is absolutely solid with no rattles. I've stocked my garage with a few extra liters of 10w-60 but so far the oil consumption hasn't been too terrible.

The car drives like it's new and is unbelievable all around.

My to-do list:
  • rear pads in the next few months
  • rear upper control arm bushing needs to be replaced
  • driver side mirror has a filter or something that's distorted and makes everything blue and blurry
  • looking for a used set of wheels for a winter set

Otherwise not looking to mod it anytime in the near future, just want to focus on preventative maintenance and make sure it's a reliable dd. Eventually I'll consider doing something with the exhaust to free up the V8 to really sing the song of its people. (Just not sure if I want to deal with something loud all the time)

Thanks again to everyone who's posted on here!

Congratulations on the purchase! I'm a new owner as well but mine has 102k miles. Like yours, I've already had the clutch done and other expected maintenance but I'm curious, what is your fear level regarding rod bearings? If you read enough about them on this board, it makes me scared to actually have fun in this car. Like anything on the internet though, if you want to search for a certain opinion, you'll find it. I guess I'm the type that looks at a restaurant's yelp reviews and sorts to show the 1-stars first. I'm inclined to just drive it and be wary of early warning signs. I spoke with a BMW master tech buddy and he shrugged the whole thing off. His response was essentially: "Wait till it starts knocking or you have copper showing up in your oil."

Anyways, congrats again, the car looks beautiful!

It worries me a bit as well but I agree with what the master tech said. From what I've read high-revs tend seem to be a major cause. I realize I have no idea or control over how the first 94k miles were driven, but I still try not to rev above 6k too often (only do when I need every last ounce of 'Go' ). I'm hopeful that if and when it happens I'll be able to notice an early warning sign!

I haven't seen those skirts before. Car looks nice but expect the mod bug to kick in no matter what. (e60 ssk , zhp shifter).

Welcome!

Stupid to buy an AMG and not drive it, it's like paying a hooker for a hug.
