The Beast on a 108F day

We've been having a heat wave in the Midwest and I drove the Beast out to a friend's cabin yesterday to take him some Fiji water after his well stopped pumping. The weather department said it was 108F - the third straight day of record heat. The M5 showed it was a little warmer, picking up the pavement temperature probably and read 116F. The coolant temp was straight up at 12 o'clock and the oil temp was the hottest I've seen it, about a needle width to the right of 210. I've heard of people tracking the Beast and seeing temps approach 230. The AC worked fine blowing ice cubes, but you could tell the power loss in the seat of your pants from that high temperature.

i had a similar experience yesterday crossing the border after a golf game..Ambient temperatures were 102 plus, humidity 80% plus, and the temperature indication was at 114 in the car. The oil temp was showing slightly to the right of scale, and the water temp was vertical. When I cleared traffic, and was able to get some speed up, the car fluttered slightly when accelerating thru second gear, but then cleared up as the air was able to cool it slightly. As has been noted, they really suffer in the heat and humidity…I pulled it into my garage and shut it off, and was amazed at how much heat it threw for an hour or so..Wow

Similar recent test at 112 on the dash display. Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic, A/C cranked, my oil temp stayed to the left of the scale and my temp gauge was straight up.

I figure that was the equivalent of properly pressure testing my cooling system, so obviously everything is working just great

I was actually very impressed with the A/C considering I was in stop and go. My cabin stayed comfortable.

Agreed with all of the above, except the antifreeze loss (sorry man)

I've been testing my new fuel pump for heat exhaustion (or lack thereof) and drove around on a day with the readout @112. Car (and new fuel pump) didn't miss a beat and kept me nice and cool inside. Did feel the heatsoak though, especially after restart that day.

My oil temp, like OP, was also a needle to the right of the center index mark, but no grey between needle and mark. Water straight up! I did hear the fan clutch a couple of times from a standstill pulling a bit more air after having been at idle for a bit.

Sounds like most of us are making it through the blistering heat OK (except for the poor soul above and my ex fuel pump)

I drove mine through death valley today. No problems at all. Oil temp barely got over 210, even on the huge grade leaving the valley. Those that live in the desert see these 110+ readings quite often this time of year (though I have to leave home to see them), and the car really handles it quite well.
