Comment for DSC- off drivers

So I was driving next to my wife yesterday and she was egging me on so I turned off dsc and hit it when the light turned green (not wondering where it got the beast nickname anymore). Well of coarse my Potenza's were leaving several of my dollars stuck to pavement but what really Suprized me was how fast I bounced off red line !!!! I tried again and the same thing almost no way to avoid it!
Now,after reading all the "bearing" threads I don't take my needle into the yellow much less Red!
So my comment, with all the people who track their M5's and all thr others doing burnouts is operating an engine that rev's this freely really the cause if these bearing failures??

I am a DSC on type of guy, for the tires' sake, but do you have a slipping clutch maybe?

I think that being able to focus on how many RPMs the engine is turning while still controlling a high horsepower, rear wheel drive car is something that takes practice. When you accelerate without DSC you need to pay more attention to throttle control because when you mash the gas pedal the tires light up and redline comes almost instantly. If traction is still maintained the whole time then redline will come up no faster than with DSC on.

+1 Keep your eyes on the tach.

I am a DSC-On kinda guy, in lower gears all you do is "leave your $$$s on the pavement" as you put it, and at higher gears it doesnt matter as much

PLUS in twisties and on familiar roads the DSC will save your ***** and your prized M5 from guardrails or worse

It is documented somewhere on the board the tachometer lags realtime engine RPM in 1st gear. Your best bet is to shift no later than 6500 in 1st and 2nd just to be safe. Regarding DSC off, it's a great tool for negotiating hairpin turns, make sure you're comfortable in power oversteer at lower speeds before taking it up a notch, things can happen very quickly at speed.

DSC sucks I hate it and never drive with it.. Unless its raining or I'm really sleepy..
If you search you'll find some of the causes of bearing failure it isn't just revving your motor "freely"
You just gotta practice and you'll be able to control your car without the granny but if you're not used to it don't do it in populated areas..
If you go to the drag you don't want DSC on and you don't want to bounce the revs off the limiter as well..

So do you turn it off every time you get in? Does that light not bug you? I know I like the throttle responce of sport so I almost always push the sport button when I get in.
