Modification frenzy...

So after nearly 2.5 years of ownership, I finally took the plunge into the upgrade pond these last couple of weeks.

It started with replacing the rotors/pads/lines with the Stoptech sport kit (not the BBK). Nice new drilled/slotted rotors and pads, and ss lines. No more rotor shake under braking..! Painted the calipers in the process (black) and detailed the ///M logo with the appropriate colors. Simple, but nice. All in prep for the 19X9.5 and 19X11 Varrstoen ES wheels that arrive in a week or two.

This same weekend saw the 545i SSK installed. Had this on my 540 and I forgot just how much better it is. For such a simple and inexpensive upgrade, I should shave done this 2 years ago....

This weekend saw the cans get hacked off and a nice set of Timmy tips installed (thanks Cerberus!) by the guys at WTB Mufflers in Poway. Sounds so nice and the larger outlets fill the valence like the factory exhaust should have.

Also spent a few hours installing my BCR coil overs from Tristan at Circuit. Once i figured out the tricky bits, it was smooth sailing. A modest drop and a few tweaks later (a couple ticks towards firm), and the car handles great. Very impressed with the ride quality and response.

In the next few weeks, the aforementioned Varrstoens and a Dynavin D99 upgrade, followed by some Slimmbones accents and a satin white vinyl wrap with a gloss black roof. If, that is, I dare to undertake such a major project....pretty sure I will though.

All that remains is some lighting tweaks minor suspension upgrades, a caramel interior swap and the RK kit. Then she is done. Hopefully this time new year, if all goes as planned.

Then I will focus on a diesel swap in the Wagoneer :grin yes:

And sorry for the lousy pics. Too dark now to retake them. The iPhone was on HDR and my arms are shaking from wrenching all morning and surfing all afternoon so they're all blurry, but you get the idea...I'll take better shots soon....

I'll trade you all these mods for your AW. I want a white M so bad, I'm going to wrap this one...

THe more I look at the RK, I really like it. I was told by someone who has the ESS that there were some issues present with his system that RK seems to not have problems with, so I am looking towards that. It'll be a while yet though, so I have plenty of time to research.

Man she looks sweet. I get so jealous when I picture you guys heading up 78 into Julian, down sunrise to I8, back to julian, down to borrego and back up. Know those roads like the back of my hand. Out here I have to drive 3 hours to get roads that are half as fun as those. Get your car done and drive.

Or better yet, living 20 minutes from the Palomar Mountain south grade like I do. No need for the 78, I just carve up the hill, then catch Mesa Grande over towards Julian or plunge down Montezuma to Borrego. Fun stuff.
