I just did a DIY fuel pump swap, 2001 M5. The process is well documented and a good video of the process is on YouTube.
However, my flex fuel line would not leg go of the plastic fitting on the top of the fuel pump assembly. I cut myself pretty good on one finger trying to squeeze and pull and that didn't work. I used pliers to squeeze and pull, and that did NOT work either.
I did almost all of the process with the flex fuel line still connected. That makes getting the fuel level sender mechanism out hard and getting it back in very hard to impossible. Eventually I pulled even harder with pliers and the flex hose finally came off. That thing was a bear and I'm not a fan of this design.
The new rubber seal that comes with the pump is another challenge. Over all, replacing the fuel pump was way worse than I expected.
Now that its all back together, finally, it leaks. Looks like the flex fuel line is leaking at the attachment to the yellow top of the fuel pump assembly. Anyone know how to replace that line?
Thanks.
