Goodwood trackday +/- have your car live mapped if a tuner is interested.

hi
i've had an email from alan brewer who is the motor circuit manager at goodwood with the following offer:-

a half day track day running from 1pm till 5pm. (driver briefing from 12-1pm) with no breaks during the 4 hour session.
this would include exclusive circuit use, so no other cars there, just the 10-15 cars. i need to check how many cars can go on track at any time, i'm guessing 3-5 cars.
1 x Goodwood pro-instructor
tea and coffee (you can buy burgers/snacks etc., this will be extra)
10 helmets
exclusive use of the lower level of the hospitality pavilion
AMRCO track day public liability insurance for £10m.

the two ½ days available are on Thurs July 19th & Tues July 31st
the above dates will be held till wednesday. but i have asked about any possible weekends in august.

total cost is £3,000 + VAT ie: 3600.

so with 10-15 cars that works out at 360 to 240.

the other interesting thing was they were fine with data logging as long as there is no measurement of lap times. ie: logging AFR etc. is ok.
i also asked if a tuner could map at the track side and take cars round the track, data log and then remap the cars. they said this was fine as well. which kind of raises the possibility of a track day/ remap day...
i'm not sure how many e39 m5's a tuner could remap in 4 hours or what a tuner would charge. i guess it partly depends on the spec of the cars. but i thought this could be a fun day too. just wondering what people think? i've always thought goodwoods a great location.

The other one was castle Coombe, £4200 for a whole day 900-1700 with a break for lunch so 7 hours track time, so if there were 15 cars in the morning and 15 in the afternoon would work out at £140/person. Again indemnity is covered etc.

a few people have commented that unless there is a long straight of approximately 1-2 miles that a mapper may not be able to live map. the mapping was more of an after thought. it's more about a track day and seeing other M cars, etc. i've emailed a few airstrips too. i was just thinking, that if you can combine 2 things you could potentially get good value if there are a few people interested.
in terms of mappers i was thinking of people like bw chiptune, emaps, possibly evolve - i'm not their biggest fan for personal reasons but their products are good and people like them so i wouldn't stand in the way of that.

I've heard Back from goodwood and they've lowered the price for the 19.7.12 (tuesday) to £2050 after a fair amount of negotiation so we're looking at £136.67 per person to £205 per person for 10-15 cars. Cost will all depend on numbers.

At the lower price I'd be interested. It's literally just around the corner from me, I was even there t'other week with work.

It's not great for run-off to be honest. There's a reasonable amount of grass around the edges, but that's rather slippery and then you've got big tyre barriers to hit. The trick is, don't go off...
