Ho Hum... Another Strong Sales Month for BMW



WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The BMW Group (BMW and MINI
brands combined) sustained impressive sales increases this month, reporting
the strongest first seven months ever in the U.S. with 146,430 vehicles, a 16
percent increase over the same period a year ago. The BMW Group also recorded
July sales of 21,955 vehicles, up 15 percent over the 19,046 reported a year
ago.

BMW Brand

BMW of North America, LLC reported year-to-date sales of 136,825
automobiles and Sports Activity Vehicles, up 8 percent over the 126,303
vehicles sold in the first seven months of 2001. The company also reported
July sales of 19,089, up 0.2 percent over the 19,046 in the same month in
2001.

BMW Automobile Sales
Year-to-date, automobile sales are up 7 percent. BMW reported sales of
111,817 compared to the 104,438 cars sold through July 2001. BMW also
reported July automobile sales of 15,779, down 0.5 percent from the 15,864
cars sold in the same month a year ago.

BMW Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
BMW also reported July sales of 3,310 X5 Sports Activity Vehicles, an
increase of 4 percent over the 3,182 vehicles reported last year. Year-to-
date, SAV sales were up 14 percent, to 25,008 vehicles compared to the 21,865
reported last year.

BMW Certified Pre-owned Vehicles Sales
Sales of BMW's Certified Pre-owned vehicles skyrocketed, with a 54 percent
increase in year-to-date sales of 34,631 compared to 22,442 a year ago. July
sales were up 77 percent, with 5,654 vehicles sold compared to 3,204 a year
ago.

MINI Brand

MINI Automobiles
The company reported sales of 1,388 MINI Coopers and 1,478 MINI Cooper S'
in July for a total of 2,866. Year-to-date, the company reported sales of
6,378 MINI Coopers and 3,227 MINI Cooper S' for combined sales of 9,605. The
MINI brand returned to the U.S. for the first time in 35 years when MINI
automobiles went on sale March 22.

Hey man ... why not high-lite the M3's too? You are not making M3 owners feel very significant here. :p

M3 Coupe sales are doubled to the year and almost 3x for July.

kevin034: I think he didn't do that because this after all is the forum for the M5/Z8.

Blue max: would you mind resampling/resizing those graphic charts that you just posted. One is 718k and the other is around 1 mb! Not exactly easy for those with dial-up connections! Maybe convert it to a JPG or a GIF.

Ok, fixed the file size issue.

Kevin034, Jason is correct, this thread is in the M5/Z8 section it's only fair that we emphasize the E39 M5.

I love the M3 as well, but unfortunately that section of the board does not get nearly as much traffic as we do here.
