It makes that torque all the way up to 8200rpm though...that's what makes them so fast.

Are there any rods for S62 that's good for 8000+rpm? It seems we are leaving a lot on the table capping at 7k.

plenty...it's the heads/cams limiting peak hp

Rod != rod bearings, lol. What do we know today that Dinan did not know back in the day? How can we push NA S62 beyond S2? As much as I crave for the monster HP of an FI kit, the S2 torque curve simply looks phenomenal and is useful for 90% of daily driving. Plus FI puts undue stress on the cylinder walls due to extra PSI and it demands much higher levels of cooling. Has anyone gotten satisfactory results from ported heads short of shipping them out to Finland?

Yes Dinan S62 Stoker Motor one was built for a z8 620+ hp all motor price well not for the faint of heart...
