that E30 M3 has $15-20K in aftermarket electronics.
Actually, I did that car and it has a lot more than $20k in electronics, but most of it wasn't to run the motor - its got full custom mil-spec harnesses, power distribution, ABS, traction control and a lot more. I've done a number of S85 swaps, in E30, E36 & E46 chassis. For around $8k, the electronics package interfaces with the E39 chassis pretty well. There's no support for cruise control and some of the stock dash functions, and you need to use a manual transmission, but otherwise you can do traction control, knock control, turbo/supercharging and a lot more.

Love these motors, if it was up to me I'd put them in everything from Formula cars to barstools.

Yes, I believe we spoke @ Bimmerfest East. I always forget that most aren't DIYers to the extreme; so, my estimate reflected cost of the individual power ECUs and/or power modules - no wiring, looms, heat shrink, barrel connectors, etc.

Neel already knows me well (though he may wish he didn't, now that I barrage him with questions every ten seconds). Seriously, Neel sold me my Motec PDMs and switch pad and dash and my Pectel SQ6M and is as knowledgeable on these and related electronics as one can be, in addition to being extremely tolerant and accommodating.
