I'm just back from a short-notice trip to the Nurburgring for work, following the Renault World Series. It's the first time I've had to hoon round the countryside for any length of time (grabbing kit from different places etc), unfortunately in a van. But what a place. Wonderful countryside and some epic roads. When I next go back in the M5 I shall do some exploring.

Glad to hear things are going well for you thus far mate. As everyone else has said, be careful, and don't get too tired! Looking forward to pictures and videos to come. One day I'll get hold of my Ring videos and stuff and whack them on here! The guy who has them all is finishing a Master's degree and having a baby, where are his priorities eh?!

Top tip, don't book with Aferry.com, they tell me on my confirmation that the first ferry is from Kappelskar in Sweden to Mariehamn on the small island of Aland. Correct.

Next ferry they say is from Mariehamn to Turku in Finland. Wrong. It's from Lagnas on Aland 30km away!

Oh and this part of the world is most delightful, very unique. It's also still quite light at 1am!
