I did check out pictures -- no harness. Thanks for help though. Anyone know of a knowledgeable installation person who could assist me?

Does anybody know a dealer, who would do a group discount for us?

or would just local one give BMW CCA discount only?

Thanks an advance,

-Vas

I do have the voice R.S. in my 2000 m5 but when I press the button on the str. wheel the system asks "name please". Of course this is for the phone system.

Does anyone knows if you can input a phone NUMBER via voice rec.? I mean actually saying the numbers (3,5,7,8....etc.) and not the programmed name?

You must program in the name and number "by voice" for the voice recognition system to work.

lokhankin,

Here are the mail(internet) order prices at PacificBMW in Glendale Ca.

p/n 84-41-6-913-352 $271.20 module
p/n 84-13-8-384-866 $14.82 Bracket
p/n 07-12-9-946-304 $0.52 (4 pieces) screws
p/n 84-31-8-380-338 $51.12 Mic

I ordered mine today. Email Louie at internetparts@pacificbmw.com.

He was actually interested in seeing this modification and was asking me questions about it. I just directed him to my web page outlining the install. So at least now if anybody else orders thur him, he has some idea of what it is for.

regards
arnolds

I spoke with the parts dept. of BMW SF and were told that "a new startac model" is coming in a month. It will have more service providers choices, and will have more features (integration wise)..

I think I'm going to wait with the voice reco usint until I get the phone..(save the cost of Mic )

----------------

Update: the parts guy caled again, and although the phone is a startac, the hardware kit for installation is all new... Interesting..

I remember from a very first post about upgrade for Voice recognition install - there was p/n 84 41 6 906 630 - for Module itself.

Rest of stuff - same part ##.
And instead of screews - they call them nuts.

BMW could've through nuts for free

Thanks for info though.
I'll verify.

I've made my first step toward upgrade - checked that my beast has that blue connector - I'm in business.

My guess is that the new startac is (hopefully) the mini "vader" version. These are already available in Europe, and BMW would not have to engineer a new install kit. Does anyone know if these are tri-mode cellular or not?

Thanks,

Alex

The first batch of Motorola "V" phones are NOT tri-mode. I passed on it when my cell-rep stopped by the office in early December. A few days later he told me that the tri-mode "V" is scheduled for USA release in Q1 2001.
