Who fancies hiring out Santa Pod for the day?

Ok this is early doors yet, so bare with me on some of the details but this is definitely do-able. Been speaking to the event organiser at Santa Pod and she says for around £120 each, 30 of us can hire the whole strip and the drift area to ourselves! It includes the following;

The 1/4 mile strip for the whole day, unlimited runs each
The drift area from 9-3 (noise regs)
Fully timed with timing slips available
Fully marshalled including fire marshalls
Gate staff

Proviso's are;

Must be a weekday
Limited to 30 cars (An option for 40 cars for which I'm awaiting prices)
It doesn't become an 'event', i.e. trade stools and barbecue's and stuff like that

Now this is obviously going to need a definite yes from at least 30 people, I'd say more in case of dropout's, it always happens...

I will update this the more I find out, and if there is any questions from you guys please ask.

For me this seems such a good deal, I would rip someone's arm off if given this opportunity for this price. Unlimited runs, unlimited drifting, no queueing, just ruining your clutch and tyres all day long!!! Of course it opens it up to a few more people as it's quite central also.

If we don' get the numbers on here alone, I can open it up to the other guys in E28,34,60 and F10 guys maybe. Remember also that it doesnt have to be just M5's, you can bring any car and also if you have a friend interested that isn't a member, they can also come, not a problem, as long as we don't go over thirty. If there's enough interest obviously we can look at the pricing for 40.

Ok the things I'm not sure on yet, and have asked;

Can we/they provide a mobile tyre fitter for the day?
Same for a catering van?
How the payment is going to work?
Is it going to be tickets or 'pay on gate'
What are available dates for May/June

As I said this could be absolutely fantastic, I'm certainly up for it in case you hadn't noticed, and I'm more than up for organising it all.

Please get word around if you know other members as I know some of them don't get on here that often but may want to go for this.

I really hope this comes off, I'll wait to see what you guys say....

Yes.

Sorry. HELL YES!

I'm going to be fitting a new clutch soon anyway, I think, so may as well do it in style...

What would their position be on having some tuition? For example, I have, in all honesty, no idea how to drift a car (though I can rear wheel steer on a bike) so if someone were to want to show me I'd be up for that.

Cheers,

SB

That's me plus two. One in an M5, the other, um, an Astra. But she wants to learn how to drift. Or at least control a slide. And she's my daughter...

Given that I now know your background, I am miffed that you can't drift a car! If you can hold the rear out on a bike then drifting will come so naturally to you anyway mate. What I will do is ask whether or not we can have a pro there giving demo/tips/advice but I feel that the fact that she has said don't make it an 'event' may rule that one out...

As for your daughter, I feel a skid pan course would be better suited to her needs, I've heard they are very good at demonstrating every conceivable situation you may find yourself in. Invaluable knowledge IMO for a young driver.
