Fuel Tank Breather Valve additional parts?

I'm ordering parts to replace the Fuel Tank Breather Valve (#14). Getting the Peake error code. Car has 110k miles.

I've read the DIYs and will replace the plastic L-bow as well, since that's prone to cracks (#17).

What else should I replace? I was not going to replace all the hoses/rubber, unless there are particular ones that are prone to wear.

Also, is it necessary to remove and clean the Idle Regulating Valve (#1)? That valve needed cleaning on my 540. It was a little gunked up at 130k, but it's a different set-up.

I would clean the idle reg valve, and also replace the fuel vac hose. It goes from the drivers side cabin filter to the bank 2 throttle bodies. There's a diy with pictures somewhere, only takes a couple minutes to replace.

Are you talking about 10 & 11 in this picture? That's $130 worth of hose. Those hoses are plastic lined, and a royal pain to get off. I know because I changed the sister hoses on my 540 when I did my CCV valve. They were in good shape until I started to destroy them to get them off. In retrospec, they did not need to be changed. The hoses have a very hard plastic lining, which is what makes them so expensive.

Is there something about the M5 that makes them go bad?

One thing that really helped me doing this job is a set of LONG-nose needle nose pliers. Like maybe 8". It really helps reaching around down there.

Overall, not a bad job. I did not clean the ICV, but probably should have. I did replace the fuel pressure regulator hose, but didn't really need to once I got in there.

Here's my DIY in case you need it: Fuel pressure regulator vacuum line replacement

For me, trying to pull the hose off with long pliers turned it in to a chinese finger trap, and the harder I pulled the tighter the hose got. Instead, I pushed the hose off with a flathead screwdriver, came off in a few seconds. I think I lubed it up with a little vaseline to get the new one back on.

Thanks. I'll check out the DIY. I printed several. And thanks for reminding me about the long needle nose pliers. I had forgotten about them. Fortunately, I've got a good assortment of those long pliers that I never seem to use. Maybe this will justify the money I spent on them way back when.

A box of bandages comes in handy with this job, the bigger your hands are the more you need.

Oh, man, is that what I get to look forward to after removing all those plenum bolts? Not fun.
